Nashville, Tenn. (May 9, 2025) – Char Restaurant, a beloved modern American steakhouse with Southern flair, is joining the tenant lineup at Canteen on Carothers, a mixed-use destination poised to bring new energy to the Cool Springs and Franklin area. The restaurant, known for its elevated comfort food, nightly piano music, and award-winning wine list, will occupy a 6,500-square-foot space at Canteen with plans to open in early 2026.
Char Restaurant is part of the 4Top Hospitality family, with existing locations in Jackson, Mississippi; Memphis, Tennessee; Huntsville, Alabama; and Nashville’s Green Hills neighborhood. Based in Middle Tennessee, 4Top Hospitality operates in four cities in the southeast. The new Franklin restaurant marks the company’s 16th restaurant in its portfolio, the Char brand’s fifth overall, and second in the greater Nashville area.

We’re excited to bring Char to the neighborhood and hope it becomes the kind of place locals can count on—whether it’s for a special night out or a relaxed dinner close to home.”
Char’s Franklin location will feature a large outdoor patio, private dining room, and seating for more than 200 guests. Guests can also look forward to live piano music every night, a jazz trio during Sunday brunch, and a beverage program that includes an extensive wine list — all Char locations have received Wine Spectator awards — along with a robust whiskey and bourbon selection and hand-crafted cocktails made in-house.
The restaurant will create approximately 50 new jobs in the area across front- and back-of-house positions. Canteen on Carothers, developed by Stockbridge Capital Group and leased by Foundry Commercial, is a vibrant, walkable destination that blends office, retail, and culinary experiences in the heart of Franklin. Char Restaurant’s addition adds to the momentum of this growing mixed-use community.
