Foundry Commercial Selected as Broker to Shepherd Process
Orlando, Fla. (May 30, 2023) – At any given time on the corners of South Street and Magnolia Avenue in downtown Orlando, there’s a good chance activity is bustling at the confluence of several popular office buildings, the state-of-the-art Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center, and First United Methodist Church of Orlando. Spanning two city blocks, the church has recently decided to list a one-acre parcel for sale/ground lease, paving the way for new development on Jackson Street in downtown Orlando.
“The decision to list this piece of property has been made following a great deal of prayer, discussion, and support from the congregants. It’s a way for us to honor our legacy, while also embracing our future,” said Rev. Dr. Vance Rains, Lead Pastor. “In taking a look at all we’ve been blessed with in Orlando, selling or ground leasing this parcel will ensure First United Methodist Church is being a good steward of our resources, putting us in a better position to minister to the community, while maximizing the use of existing properties.”
The property currently holds two buildings connected by a second-floor crosswalk. Across the street at 142 E. Jackson Street, the sanctuary, ministry, and educational offices will remain a part of the existing campus, where the church has ample space to expand its many ministries.
Foundry Commercial, an Orlando-headquartered commercial real estate brokerage, has been tapped to bring the property to market. Foundry’s Religious, Education, and Non-Profit Group has long-been recognized as the national leader for commercial real estate transactions involving such properties.
“There has obviously been a great deal of prayer and faith put into this process, and we know this asset is going to serve as the blank page from which the church can soon write the next chapter in its ministry and outreach,” said Matt Messier, SIOR, CCIM, Partner and Managing Director with Foundry Commercial. “Downtown Orlando is our home, too, and a place where we’ve assisted a number of owners over many years, so we’re excited to have the opportunity to work with the team at First United Methodist Church and see how this property eventually goes to serve the greater Central Florida community.”
