Orlando, Fla. (December 10, 2020) – Kevin Maddron, CFO and Healthcare Principal for Foundry Commercial, has been recognized by GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum as a top individual in the publication’s ‘Influencers in Senior Housing Real Estate’ series. During a year in which the seniors housing industry has had to make more monumental shifts than perhaps any other industry, GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum honors innovators who have made a recognizable and significant impact on the business.
Having spent the majority of his career in this industry, Kevin Maddron has been at the forefront of one of the biggest paradigm shifts in the seniors housing industry in the past several decades, connecting capital investment with operations of senior housing communities, thus creating healthier and more successful relationships between capital and operators. Once viewed as an alternative asset class, the performance of the sector in recent decades and undeniable demographic trends have brought the industry into the mainstream. Today, successful communities perform best when owners and operators have a collective vested interest in operational excellence and success. These partnerships began to emerge about 15 years ago when REITs really became active investors, creating meaningful capital in the space focused on improving lifestyle and keeping seniors independent and engaged in active living.
“Thanks to the foresight of innovators like Kevin, the seniors housing industry has experienced continued growth even during difficult times,” said Paul Ellis, CEO of Foundry Commercial. “This year has been challenging for most industries – seniors housing is certainly no exception – yet even in amidst the spread of COVID-19, communities that are supported by capital are operating using best-in-class standards and have tended to continue on the path of success.”
A CPA by trade, Maddron started his career working for Deloitte after graduating from college and focused on skilled nursing reimbursement assignments. Before long, he had been tapped to serve as the Vice President of Asset Management for CNL Retirement Corp., then went on to become the COO and CFO of Servant Healthcare Investments, LLC, which later became Sentio Investments. Maddron rejoined CNL in 2011 as Senior Managing Director of CNL Financial Group and was later appointed Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for CNL Healthcare Properties and CNL Healthcare Properties II, which are public non-listed REITs. Combined, these companies acquired and developed in excess of $2 billion in seniors housing and healthcare-related real estate. Maddron was instrumental in creating and overseeing the asset management and financial reporting functions for both organizations. In early 2018, he became the Chief Investment Officer for Foster Senior Living, a privately held developer and operator of seniors housing assets throughout the Midwest and Southeast, and nearly two years ago was named Chief Financial Officer at Foundry Commercial.
In effort to recognize the outstanding work within the seniors housing sector, GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum is shining a spotlight on the professionals who help shape this real estate market. The ‘Influencers in Senior Housing Real Estate’ series profiles not only the pioneers who have made an impact with their individual efforts, but also teams and entire organizations who have become crucial to the industry. Individual profiles and interviews are featured in the November/December issue of GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum.
