Nashville, Tenn. (May 28, 2025) – Foundry Commercial announces Melissa Alexander, SIOR, Partner, has been named a recipient of the inaugural 2025 SIOR Award of Excellence, presented by The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors® (SIOR). The honor was awarded at the SIOR Spring 2025 event in early May, held in Las Vegas.
This prestigious recognition celebrates individuals who demonstrate extraordinary professional achievement, leadership, integrity, and a strong commitment to SIOR’s values. The award also acknowledges recipients who have overcome significant adversity and who serve as role models in the commercial real estate industry and their communities at large.
Alexander, an industrial broker based in Nashville, has more than 19 years of experience in commercial real estate and has led transactions in 20+ states as well as internationally. Since earning her SIOR designation in 2023, she has stood out in an exceptionally competitive market through her leadership, performance, and advocacy for the profession, especially for women in industrial. In recent years, she has also stepped into a national advocacy role. After her son survived the 2023 Covenant school shooting, Alexander has become an advocate for common-sense gun reform. To date, she has been a part of passing four new bipartisan bills in her home state of Tennessee. In addition, she has made four trips to Washington D.C., testified twice on the Hill, and had the opportunity to meet with a sitting U.S. President. Her advocacy work alongside other mothers from the Covenant school, has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, BBC, CNN, MSNBC, USA Today, Newsmax, Bloomberg, Barrons, CBS Evening News, NPR, and the Today Show, to name a few.
“Melissa represents the true spirit of the SIOR Award of Excellence,” said SIOR Global President Mike Ohmes, SIOR. “Their professional accomplishments, leadership, and dedication reflect the highest values of SIOR and set a standard for excellence in our industry.”
“I am deeply honored to be recognized with the inaugural SIOR Award of Excellence,” said Alexander. “I’m grateful for how this community rallied around me during the most difficult time in my life. As SIORs, we do life together, not just business. I’m proud to be part of SIOR. The membership here represents the best brokers in office and industrial and raises the standard in and beyond commercial real estate.”
The SIOR Award of Excellence reflects the organization’s commitment to four key pillars: education, networking, advocacy, and the highest standards and ethics. These principles serve as the foundation for SIOR’s mission to advance the commercial real estate profession globally.
