Charlotte, N.C. (February 9, 2021) – New York Life Real Estate Investors and Foundry Commercial today announce that they have achieved Fitwel® One-Star certification for 525 N. Tryon, a 20-story office tower at the entryway to Charlotte’s Central Business District. 525 N. Tryon’s Fitwel Certification demonstrates New York Life’s and Foundry’s commitment to advancing their tenants’ well-being by implementing health-promoting design and operational strategies.
Comprised of more than 425,000 square feet, the building’s management has become known for its strong commitment to sustainability through initiatives such as green cleaning, trash separation for recycling, and achievement of both Energy Star and LEED certifications. In addition, 525 North Tryon offers unique amenities such as an on-site café, fitness club, electric car shuttle, bike room, and training/conference center.
Originally created by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention and U.S. General Services Administration, Fitwel is a rigorous, third-party healthy building certification system operated by the Center for Active Design (CfAD) that sets the industry standard for evidence-based strategies to promote positive health outcomes for building occupants and communities.
“More than just a place to work, 525 North Tryon provides exceptional onsite amenities that invigorate tenant life, and we’re consistently looking for ways to implement programs and strategies aimed at enhancing the overall health and wellbeing of building occupants,” stated Foundry Commercial’s Eric Wallet, senior real estate manager at 525 North Tryon. “We’re extremely proud to have been recognized nationally with the Fitwel One-Star certification.”
Properties recognized with the certification typically incorporate a number of evidence-based design and operations strategies that support the physical, mental, and social health of occupants. During the application and review process, building features and spaces assessed include categories such as location, building access, entrances and ground floor, emergency preparedness, stairs, indoor environment, outdoor spaces, workspaces, shared spaces, water supply, prepared food areas, and vending / snacks.
“We are proud to recognize New York Life and Foundry Commercial as a leader in the healthy building movement,” said Joanna Frank, President and CEO of the Center for Active Design. “Achieving Fitwel certification demonstrates the proactive steps the team has taken to implement numerous evidence-based design and operational strategies to support the physical, mental and social health of building occupants. By prioritizing health and wellness Foundry has distinguished 525 Tryon as a standout asset.” For more information about leasing opportunities at 525 N.
