Charlotte, NC (November 1, 2023) –After announcing plans to relocate its headquarters from Chicago to Charlotte last month, railcar and freight services provider TTX today unveiled that it will be moving to The Line, a 16-story tower fronting the Rail Trail in the heart of Charlotte’s South End.
“TTX Company looks forward to contributing to the vibrancy of South End and welcoming new top talent to join our existing team in a truly dynamic and state-of-the-art location,” stated Brian Powers, TTX Company’s Chief Human Resources Officer.
TTX has signed on to occupy the top two floors of the tower, totaling just under 70,000 square feet. As has been previously reported, the headquarters relocation means the addition of 150 jobs to the Charlotte region, including corporate roles such as directors, assistant vice presidents, managers, and analysts. Approximately 100 employees will be relocating from Chicago, with the balance of 50 employees hired locally in Charlotte. Foundry Commercial’s Meredith Ball and Claiborne Dandridge handled the lease on behalf of the building’s owner; CBRE’s Mike Fahey and Benson Browne represented TTX in the transaction.
“We believe Charlotte presents a unique opportunity for TTX that provides for strategic partnerships to strengthen our business,” Thomas Wells, president and CEO of TTX, said in a statement. “We also look forward to welcoming new local talent to join our existing workforce to continue to drive our long-term success.”
The buildout for TTX’s offices at The Line is expected to be complete in Spring 2024, and the official office opening is slated for later that year. The TTX space will include an interconnecting stair, a large work café adjacent to the balcony, as well as a training facility. The entire space will focus on a connection to the outdoors and allowing natural light to flood the floor. The two-floor office has been designed by Gensler, with the upfit being managed by CBRE Project Management.
The Line, which is owned by CBRE Investment Management and Portman Holdings through a joint venture, was completed in early 2022 and has quickly become one of the marquee projects in Charlotte’s South End. The Line features 290,000 square feet of Class-A office space with a first-of-its-kind in Charlotte sky lobby with outdoor terrace. The office floors are comprised of 35,000 square feet per floor, many including private balconies and sweeping views of Charlotte.
In addition to TTX, The Line is also home to Northeastern University, Society Awards, Experis, SignatureFD, and Foundry Commercial. Located at 2151 Hawkins Street, the Line features 20,000+ square feet of ground-floor retail space, is home to the popular and acclaimed Sycamore Brewing, Savi Provisions, Grit Box Fitness, and Chapter 6 by Jon Dressler. A 9,500-square-foot open air passage between Sycamore Brewing and Chapter 6 serves as a public living room connecting Hawkins Street and the Rail Trail. Foundry Senior Vice President Keely Hines has served as the retail leasing representative for the project.
