Charlotte, N.C. (May 15, 2024) – Ballantyne Village, a leading mixed-use development in south Charlotte, is adding five new tenants to a growing, diverse roster. The new tenants are Perspire Sauna, Game Show Battle Rooms, Coffee Republic, Eggspectation, and Azucar Cuban Restaurant.
Located at the southwest corner of Johnston Road (Hwy 521) and Ballantyne Commons Parkway and across the street from the 535-acre, four-million-square-foot Ballantyne Corporate Park, Ballantyne Village offers high visibility and traffic counts. With the addition of well-known grocer Wegmans to the Ballantyne submarket by the third quarter of 2026, growth for the area is slated to continue.
“New retail and office tenants are flocking to Ballantyne Village given its diverse roster of local businesses and its proximity to additional corporate office space, residential townhomes and condominiums, and hotels, including the adjacent 186-room AC Hotel,” stated Greg Guido, Co-Managing Member of Stonemar Properties, a co-owner of the development. “The Village is a destination with active programming on the weekends and some evenings that continues to draw large crowds. We are excited to continue providing the local community with leading shopping, dining, fitness, and entertainment options.”
“Ballantyne Village is amazing!” said Demetrius Jackson, who co-owns the newest location of Perspire Sauna alongside Paul Colon. The Ballantyne Village studio is expected to open in August. “As the area has continued to thrive and grow, Ballantyne Village continues to be the cornerstone that attracts customers from all around. The tenants are friendly and inviting, the atmosphere gives off a euphoric vibe, and walking the grounds makes it feel like its own community. We felt adding a Perspire Sauna Studio would be a perfect fit for an already well-established location.” Perspire Sauna Studio will occupy 1,517 square feet, offering a 40-minute private oasis to relax the mind, detox the body, recover faster, and burn calories. From this location alone, they will add 10 jobs to the local economy, while they are simultaneously in the process of looking for a second location.
Game Show Battle Rooms also opens at Ballantyne Village in/around August in a 2,937-square-foot space. This represents the brand’s first location on the East Coast. The company offers two experiences allowing participants to play three game shows within an hour. “We feel that Ballantyne Village is the perfect landing spot for Game Show Battle Rooms in the greater Charlotte area because of the synergies with restaurants, shopping, and hotels,” said David Sauer, Founder and Owner. “Our customers will love to be able to park their car once, grab a bite to eat at a variety of great spots with their friends, families, and co-workers, and then have an unforgettable experience with us at Game Show Battle Rooms on the 2nd floor.”
Sean Flynn, Owner of Coffee Republic, which recently opened its second Charlotte location at Ballantyne Village, echoes the excitement over joining this development: “After having established a following for our fun coffee shop brand in northern Charlotte, we wanted to bring the concept to others in south Charlotte and Ballantyne Village is a great spot to do that.” Coffee Republic added 10 jobs to the local economy with this new 1,019-square-foot location and plans to open two more shops in south Charlotte this year.
Eggspectation recently found a new home in Ballantyne Village as well. Known for their all-day brunch and bar concept, in a 4,791-square-foot space, Eggspectation offers indoor seating as well as a large wrap-around, partially covered, dog-friendly patio. “Guests flock to Eggspectation for its upscale atmosphere and a menu designed to delight every type of craving. Although many customers are introduced to Eggspectation through our brunch offering, loyal customers will tell you that the sumptuous lunch, dinner, and cocktail creations have become the reason they keep coming back,” said Marketing Director Bill Geibler.
“Before becoming a restaurateur, I was in real estate, and I have watched how Ballantyne Village has grown and continues to be a great attraction for Charlotteans and visitors alike,” said Alejandro Soto, Owner of Azucar Cuban Restaurant, which has recently opened its doors in Ballantyne Village. “This is our second location, and we always had our eye on Ballantyne for this concept.” At 2,503 square feet, the restaurant can accommodate around 75 people and has added approximately 30 new jobs to the economy.
“The Ballantyne neighborhood is a thriving destination for work, life, and play, and Ballantyne Village offers a unique mix of retail, including everything from dining options to Class-A office space,” said Keely Hines, the Senior Vice President at Foundry Commercial who oversees retail leasing at the project. “We are thrilled to add these five new tenants and are confident they will further increase Ballantyne Village’s popularity and growth.”
