Nashville, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2022) – Melissa Alexander, Senior Vice President with Foundry Commercial based in the firm’s Nashville office, has been recognized by GlobeSt. as a 2022 ‘Influencer in Industrial Real Estate,’ a distinction that spotlights the achievements of commercial real estate professionals who have helped shape the industrial real estate market.
Melissa works on the Industrial Services team of Foundry Commercial, a full-service real estate services and investment firm with offices throughout the Sun Belt. With more than 16 years of real estate experience, her primary role at Foundry is to assist users both small and large with the leasing and purchasing of industrial real estate. During her career, she has been involved in transactions across 20+ states as well as globally. In 2021 she was responsible for representing the buyer in the top industrial sale transaction in Nashville. She has been able to differentiate herself as a woman representing industrial clients in a typically male-dominated field. Melissa was also named a GlobeSt.com Woman of Influence in 2020.
A thought leader in the industry, Melissa and her colleague Casey Flannery created an online Twitter chat called #CREchat. The monthly chat hosts CRE influencers from across the U.S. and has garnered participation and praise from CRE professionals, organizations such as CREW and SIOR, as well as prominent news outlets as two women bringing change and innovation to the industry. The chats have evolved into a podcast called #CREchatLive, and one of the outlet’s main goals has been to shine a spotlight on women in the industry. During a time of social distancing and uncertainty, #CREchat went from a monthly to weekly format. While everyone was scrambling to figure out what was going to happen and how COVID-19 would affect the industry, the chats proved to be a viable form of communication and anecdotal source of information and support for the industry.
“Melissa is a powerhouse in the industrial space, and it’s humbling that Melissa has chosen to be a part of the Foundry team and set such a remarkable example for brokers across the platform,” said Jason Holwerda, Market Leader for Foundry’s Nashville office. “Her market knowledge combined with her unrelenting tenacity and her ability to consistently think outside the box continues to deliver results. She is incredibly deserving of being recognized among GlobeSt.’s Industrial Influencers.”
GlobeSt.’s 2022 Influencers in Industrial Real Estate recognition highlights not only individual pioneers who have made an impact through their efforts, but also entire organizations and the teams within that have become critical to the industry. GlobeSt. launched the ‘Influencers in Industrial Real Estate’ program to recognize the efforts that continue to drive success in the industrial sector. As stated on the outlet’s website: “Of all the commercial real estate sectors, the industrial market maintains arguably the most consistent activity among investors, tenants, and developers. Considering the variety of components driving this particular market, such as innovations to robotics and automation, advanced logistics and supply chain offerings, and increased e-commerce demand, the industrial sector continues to thrive as a steady, reliable investment opportunity.” The September issue of GlobeSt. features this year’s honorees.
